Where do I drop off my packages?

Learn how to hand your packages to USPS and UPS, either by scheduling a pickup or dropping them off

Pirate Ship sells postage for the United States Postal Service® and UPS®, so once you buy and print the postage and put it on your packages, you simply need to give it to USPS® or UPS®.

USPS packages

Don't drop USPS packages off in one of the blue USPS mailboxes outside

Unfortunately, the blue mailboxes outside the Post Office or around town are sometimes targets for crooks who break into them and steal packages. If you leave a package in there, there's a chance that it could disappear, so we don't recommend risking it!

Instead, drop your USPS packages off over the counter at the Post Office

If you're dropping your packages off at the Post Office, we recommend handing them to an employee and asking for an acceptance receipt.

  • An acceptance receipt gives you proof that you shipped the package, which can be important if something happens and your package goes missing.

...or stay put and schedule a free next-day pickup!

You can hand your package to your letter carrier when they drop off your mail every day, or you can schedule a free next-day pickup to make sure they show up even if they don't have any mail for you.

If you're shipping lots of packages, you use a SCAN Form to make life easier for everybody 😉

  • A SCAN Form creates a single barcode your letter carrier can scan, which includes all the shipments you're sending in a day.

  • For insurance claims, note that a SCAN Form does not count as proof of acceptance. You'll still want to obtain an acceptance receipt.

UPS packages

Drop off your packages at any UPS drop-off location

UPS offers over 85,000 drop-off locations across the country, so you should be relatively close to a drop-off point no matter where you are!

  • To find your nearest UPS drop-off location, visit this page and enter your city or ZIP code into the search bar 👌

Schedule a UPS pickup on Pirate Ship

If you don't want to travel to a UPS drop-off location, you can also schedule a pickup for your UPS packages on Pirate Ship!

Unlike USPS pickups, UPS pickups aren't free. UPS charges a fee for "On Call" service, but this offers much more flexibility in terms of the date and time you can select.
