Added security and protection: When you log in to Pirate Ship from a new device for the first time, we send an email asking to confirm it was you. This added layer of security helps prevent any scallywags from boarding the ship and gaining access to your account π
You won't be prompted to verify a new login if you have 2FA enabled
Accounts with 2FA enabled don't need to verify new logins: You won't need to verify a login from a new device if you have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled on your Pirate Ship account π However, you'll still get an email alerting you that your account was accessed from a new device.
Basically, if you already use 2FA, you won't experience any changes - your hatches are all battened! π
New login verification emails are enabled by default, but can be changed in your Settings
New login verification emails are automatically turned on: The new login verification feature is automatically turned on when you create a Pirate Ship account. If you'd like to turn it off, you can manually disable it in your Settings > Account Settings.
Here's how that looks:
We do NOT recommend disabling the new login verification feature
We don't recommend disabling new login verification: Like 2FA, we don't recommend disabling the new login verification emails. If you toggle them off, you'll be prompted to read a disclaimer and confirm that you wish to turn them off.
Again, we do NOT recommend this, because it effectively strips your account of an added layer of security π
Consider enabling 2FA as best practice: Whether you leave new login verification emails enabled or not, we suggest keeping your account secure with Two-Factor Authentication.
