Updated over 2 weeks ago

USPS is now accepting all packages going to Canada! As of January 6th, 2025, you can use any services that Pirate Ship offers to ship your packages to your Canadian recipients 🇨🇦

USPS, UPS, and Asendia are all now accepting shipments going to Canada

  • All Carriers Available to Ship to Canada: As of January 6th, 2025, USPS and Asendia have resumed acceptance of Canada-bound shipments 🎉 This means you can use any service available on Pirate to Ship to ship to Canada again!

Background on the Canada Post strike and its aftermath

  • What Happened: On November 15th, 2024, around 55,000 Canada Post workers went on strike, prompting Canada Post to shut down operations. Canada Post workers began delivering mail and parcels again on December 17th... but USPS & Canada Post had to work through a backlog before operations resumed normally 🙈

  • USPS & Asendia Didn't Accept Packages After the Strike Ended: While the strike ended on December 17th, USPS kept service to Canada suspended due to the backlog of packages it had to work through alongside Canada Post

    • Asendia also kept service suspended to Canada immediately after the strike ended, so Simple Export Rate packages weren't accepted 🚫

  • UPS Was the Only Carrier Available: Since USPS and Asendia didn't resume service to Canada after the strike lifted, you could only use UPS to ship there... until now!

Some other info you need to know...

  • Packages Already in the Network May Be Delayed: If you had a USPS or Simple Export Rate shipment accepted into the Canada Post network before or during the strike, its delivery may continue to be delayed.

  • Support for RTS Shipments Going to Canada: If your Canadian shipment was marked "Return to Sender" (RTS) and got sent back to you due to the Canada Post strike, chat with our Support Crew. We'll see if we can lend a hook to help you across the choppy waters, Matey!
