Learn about Pirate Ship's Shopify integration

Updated over a week ago

Pirate Ship’s Shopify integration makes it simple to import your Unfulfilled orders and turn them into shipping labels. When you ship an order from Shopify using Pirate Ship, the order is automatically marked as Fulfilled in Shopify and the tracking number is attached to the order.

Here's how our Shopify app works:

You can connect your Shopify store in one of two ways:

  1. In Pirate Ship, head to Settings > Integrations and add your Shopify store after clicking Connect New Source; this will prompt you to install the Pirate Ship app on the Shopify App Store (if you haven't already)

  2. Or you can make the connection directly in Shopify by installing it from the Shopify App store: https://apps.shopify.com/pirate-ship

You need to install the Pirate Ship app in Shopify in order to connect your store, and keep it installed to continue importing orders 👍 If you delete the app, your orders will no longer import.

How to import your Shopify orders

Once your Shopify store is connected, when you click Create New Shipment > Import you’ll see all of the orders in your store that have the status Unfulfilled. Pirate Ship will refresh the data periodically, but make sure to click the Refresh Data button to make sure you’re always looking at the most current order list.

You can click any of the columns to filter or sort the data to group and select which orders you would like to create shipments for.

In Pirate Ship’s Settings > Integrations > Shopify page you can adjust several settings:

  • You can select which Financial Statuses you’d like Pirate Ship to import, so for example you may only want to be able to ship orders that have the Paid status, or maybe for your business you also want to be able to ship orders with the status Refunded.

  • You can choose whether you’d like to use Pirate Ship’s email notifications instead of having Shopify send an email when the order is shipped. The benefit of Pirate Ship’s email system over Shopify’s is that you can schedule when you’d like the email to be sent, instead of it always being sent right when you purchase the postage.

  • You can edit the Field Mapping to have some of the Shopify order data printed in small text in the corner of the shipping label. This is commonly used to print Order Items or an Order ID on each label, which can be helpful.

Pirate Ship doesn't display live rates to your customers

Keep in mind that Pirate Ship never displays live rates to your customers. What you charge for shipping is up to you 😉 Check out this article for some tips on what to charge for shipping.
